A man living in South Africa has created a “”magical modification”” of the Toyota Hiace, which has become the talk of the town.
In addition to its extreme exterior, its performance, including a mid-ship V12 engine, is also attracting attention. How did it come to be produced?

However, there are not many people in the world who customize the exterior of the Hiace to look like a Lamborghini Aventador and install a twin-turbocharged V12 engine from a Century.
The creator of such a “”magic modification”” Hiace is Mr. James Redelinghuys, who lives in South Africa.
The Hiace, sold locally under the name “”Quantum,”” is the standard cab vehicle in South Africa. Why did James decide to “”magic-modify”” the Hiace?
James, who used to operate a cab rental business in South Africa, says that he originally set out to create a custom Hiace for his own marketing purposes.
I got this Hiace in March 2017.
The main purpose of the customization was to market the company, but I also wanted to create something creative.
We started by turbocharging the stock 2.7-liter engine.
That in itself was done quickly, but then I saw an Aventador-style body kit that SAD of Japan was selling and decided to get it.
Then I felt like I had to install a crazier engine as well.
After considering different engines, we decided to install a Century V12 engine midship.
The Century V12 engine has real torque from low rpm.
I have installed two twin-scroll turbochargers in it, bringing the maximum output to 600 hp and the maximum torque to 700 Nm.
These turbos start to show power around 3500 rpm. Incidentally, since the stock injectors could not supply enough fuel to the engine, I installed Bosch injectors, which are used in the Porsche 911 (997 model).
The transmission is a three-speed one made by TCI, which is very unique because it is used in street racing in the United States.
As for the suspension, we tried different patterns and settled on plate springs with dampers.””
Although James has done “”magical modifications”” to the Italjet Dragster and Smart Roadster in the past, he had a very difficult time customizing the Hiace.
He says that the custom Hiace was a very difficult project for him, but he was able to complete it in time.
I hardly feel the impact of the road and the noise. But the beat produced by the muffler is very pleasant.
When the cab work is over, I can enjoy this Hiace as much as I want.
It is really a fun time. I believe that this car is unique not only in South Africa but also in the world.
Incidentally, this Hiace can reach 200 km/h in second gear. In theory, I think 300 km/h is possible, but it would take a lot of guts to do it.
