Revolutionary Luxury Toyota Alphard G Welcab 4.72 Million Yen Only
On June 21, 2023, Toyota, the renowned automaker, launched its latest offering in the minivan segment—the all-new luxury minivan “Alphard.” With its sleek and opulent exterior, coupled with luxurious seats and interior, the 4th generation Alphard has been generating significant attention, surpassing even its popular predecessor.
The new Alphard boasts a simple grade structure, featuring two primary grades—the highest-grade “Executive Lounge” and the main grade “Z.” Notably, the Executive Lounge grade is exclusively available for hybrid cars, while the Z grade is available for both hybrid and gasoline cars. Buyers can also opt for either a 2WD (Front-Wheel Drive) or a 4WD (E-Four for hybrid vehicles) drive system for each grade.
For those looking to acquire the new Alphard at the most affordable price, the natural inclination might be towards the 5.4 million yen Z Gasoline 2WD grade. However, there exists a lesser-known, cost-effective option—the “G Welcab side lift-up tilt seat equipped car.” This particular grade is considered a “welfare vehicle,” designed to facilitate easy entry and exit by rotating the second seat and sliding it down outside the vehicle. Welfare vehicles are exempt from consumption tax, making them a more budget-friendly choice.

Mitsubishi Motors is currently developing the next-generation L200 pickup truck. The L200, formerly known as the Triton, is a 1-ton pickup truck that was officially sold in Japan from 2006 to 2011.
The current model, the fifth generation of the L200, debuted in 2014 and is sold in Asian and Oceania markets as the Triton, just as it once was in Japan. 2018 will see a major upgrade (launched as a new model in the UK), and the baton will finally be passed on to the next-generation model.
The L200 next-generation prototype was captured in a test mule in January, but this time it is in production form with the final design visible. The front end reveals a bold grille that incorporates the latest Mitsubishi “”Dynamic Shield”” design. Like the Outlander, the main headlights are positioned below slim LED daytime running lights.
Perhaps the biggest change is a mesh-pattern grille similar to that of the Nissan Navara; the L200 was jointly developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and uses the same architecture as the Nissan Navara. Many other components are expected to share similarities as well.
On the side, we can see streamlined styling and angled accents above the wheel arches, while the wheelbase appears to be stretched and will provide a fuller cabin.
At the rear, no major changes can be seen at this stage, but the taillights and bumper are expected to be started in the future. In addition, the next-generation model will shift to electrification, and the adoption of PHEV will be the main feature. The prototype’s exhaust pipe is connected to an emission monitoring sensor, so we can expect gasoline and diesel engines to be offered as well, depending on the market.

Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 is almost here! What is the current status of Alphard trucks?
Every year, the Tokyo Auto Salon showcases a variety of custom and tuning cars. Automobile manufacturers and custom brands unveil their custom cars.
Among them, the custom cars created by students at the Nippon Automobile College (commonly known as NATS), an automotive vocational school in Chiba Prefecture, have become the talk of the town every time.

The student in charge of the project explained how the Alphard was converted to a truck as follows.
The idea to create a duty truck came from a group of members who were interested in truckin’ (sporty truck customization) and American cars.
When choosing a base vehicle, we decided on the Toyota Alphard because we wanted to draw attention to the unexpectedness of the vehicle by basing it on a familiar Japanese vehicle. I am certain that this will be a one-of-a-kind custom car.””
The actual production was done by extending the rear end of the Alphard’s body and joining the cargo area, with the overall length measured at 6.6 m. The hardest part of the production process was “”First of all, we had to make a car that would be easy to drive.

Basically, the students’ goal is to create a custom car that will be able to obtain vehicle inspections.
As for the Alphard truck’s double sliding doors, the students said, “”As long as it has the catcher and striker that lock the doors open and close, it will pass vehicle inspection.

“Denza D9 Electric Minivan Gains Remarkable Momentum with 5-Star
ByPawaniBeijing, China – Denza, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand born out of a collaboration between Chinese automaker BYD and Germany’s Daimler in 2010, has recently unveiled its latest addition to the electric lineup, the Denza D9 electric minivan. Having experienced the vehicle firsthand in Beijing, we dive into the details of this electrifying newcomer.
Denza made its debut in 2014 with the release of the “Denza EV,” initially based on the Mercedes-Benz “B Class” platform. The project was unique in its nature, with BYD handling the powertrain and battery while Daimler took charge of the interior and exterior styling. At the time, amid a market saturated with nascent designs, the Denza EV stood out as a remarkable offering.
Nevertheless, Denza’s journey has been marked by challenges, characterized by a lack of new models and only minor updates to its initial offering. The Denza EV, later rebranded as the Denza 500, was eventually discontinued in 2019. In the same year, the Denza X emerged, based on BYD’s Tang SUV, once again featuring styling by Mercedes-Benz. However, in 2021, Daimler reduced its stake in Denza to 10%, signaling a shift away from the Mercedes-Benz identity.
Despite appearing destined to fade into obscurity amongst the ever-expanding sea of generic EV brands, BYD surprised industry watchers by announcing the revival of the Denza brand in 2022. The rejuvenated lineup categorizes models under Denza’s D, E, N, Z, and A series, with the electric minivan D9 leading the charge.
The Denza D9 offers two powertrain options: Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV). The PHEV variant boasts a 1.5-liter inline 4-cylinder direct injection turbo engine known as “Yuun,” paired with an electric continuously variable transmission (E-CVT), an electric motor, BYD’s specialty iron phosphate engine, and a lithium-ion battery. It’s available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, with outputs ranging from 296 hp to 400 hp and battery capacities of 11.06kWh or 40.06kWh, providing impressive NEDC method ranges of up to 1040km.
The BEV variant solely relies on a 103.36 kWh battery, delivering a range of 600 km to 620 km according to the CLTC method. Dimensionally, the D9 is notably spacious at 5250 mm in length, 1960 mm in width, and 1920 mm in height, making it a formidable presence among minivans.
China’s growing appetite for luxury minivans, including popular models like the Toyota Alphard and Crown Vellfire, underscores the importance of electrification in maintaining competitiveness. During our test drive, we sampled the PHEV model “DM-i,” featuring four-wheel drive. Notably, “DM” denotes the PHEV models by BYD, signifying “dual mode.”
Externally, the PHEV version differentiates itself with a blocky front grille, exuding luxury with matte silver accents. The interior maintains a balance between simplicity and complexity, fostering a serene ambiance. However, some finer details, like the air conditioner louvers, felt slightly rough, and the selector and buttons seemed identical to regular BYD models, lacking differentiation.
While the Denza D9 offers a comfortable ride akin to luxury minivans, a subsequent test drive of Geely’s EV brand, “G-Car” “009,” left us yearning for more. The G-CAR 009 outperformed the Denza D9 in terms of ride comfort, interior design aesthetics, the richness of the infotainment system, and user interface.
Nevertheless, this performance disparity is unsurprising when considering the price point. The Denza D9 starts at 335,800 yuan (approximately 6,679,000 yen) for the PHEV model and 395,800 yuan (approximately 7,872,000 yen) for the BEV variant. In contrast, the G-CAR 009 is exclusively available as a BEV, with prices ranging from 499,000 yuan (approximately 9,925,000 yen) to 588,000 yuan (approximately 11,696,000 yen), boasting superior CLTC cruising ranges of 702km/822km.
Overall, the Denza D9 impresses with its cost performance, offering good value for the price. Furthermore, Denza recently unveiled the compact SUV “N7” at the Shanghai Motor Show in April 2023, with pre-orders already indicating strong demand. While pricing for the N7 remains undisclosed, the surge in orders within hours of pre-order commencement underscores the heightened expectations for this forthcoming model.
