Toyotas New C-HR Unleashes Stylish Power with 64 Ambient Colors
In the automotive world, anticipation is building for Toyota’s latest creation, the “New C-HR,” a compact SUV that has recently made waves in Germany. Excitement has reached a peak as the innovative model flaunts a distinctive “red TOYOTA emblem,” capturing the attention of car enthusiasts.
The New C-HR is scheduled to make its global debut in Europe come June 2023, with pre-orders already open in Germany since September of the previous year. While details about its availability in Japan remain undisclosed, Japanese social media users are expressing a keen interest and fervently hoping for a domestic release.
Originating from the concept model “TOYOTA C-HR Concept,” unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 2014, the C-HR officially entered the market in December 2016. Gaining popularity in Japan, production and sales are slated to conclude in late July 2023. However, Europe welcomes the arrival of the second-generation New C-HR, introduced for the first time in June 2023.
Compact yet robust, the New C-HR boasts dimensions of 4,360 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and a height ranging from 1,558 to 1,564 mm. The exterior mirrors the audacious styling of the “C-HR Prologue” concept car from December 2022. Inside, the vehicle exhibits a sporty and sophisticated finish with high-quality materials. A standout feature is the ambient light, serving both aesthetic and safety purposes, offering a choice of up to 64 colors that can synchronize with the time of day.
Under the hood, the German model, currently open for reservations, is available with a 1.8-liter engine + motor hybrid (FF only) producing approximately 140 horsepower. Additionally, a 2-liter engine variant with a maximum output of around 197 horsepower is on offer. The lineup includes three variations: a hybrid model with front and rear motors (FF and AWD), a 2-liter engine, and a plug-in hybrid system. The three available grades are “Team Deutschland,” “Lounge Premiere,” and “GR SPORT Premiere.”
Prices for the New C-HR start at 38,190 euros (approximately 6 million yen) for the Team Deutschland’s 140 horsepower hybrid version and go up to 48,990 euros (around 7,750,000 yen) for the top-of-the-line GR SPORT Premiere PHEV model.
Despite the absence of official reports regarding its availability in Japan, Japanese social media platforms have been flooded with positive comments regarding the New C-HR’s design. Enthusiastic users express their admiration, predicting strong sales in Japan and fervently requesting its introduction to the domestic market. While the model is currently anticipated as an overseas exclusive, the demand from Japanese fans remains fervent, hinting at potential future developments.
