When choosing a base vehicle, we decided on the Toyota Alphard because we wanted to draw attention to the unexpectedness of using a familiar Japanese vehicle as a base.
I am certain that this will be a one-of-a-kind custom car.
With such a production background, what were some of the difficulties involved in creating a custom car that had never been done before?
First of all, we had a hard time finding the right combination of strength and weight (in order to obtain official approval) by extending the body of the car, so we had to make sure that it was sturdy.
The cargo bed was made from panels of the current Hilux with the support of the local Chiba Toyota Group.
We are aiming to complete the production with the support of many other parts makers as well.
