How the new HR-V (ZR-V) differs from the Vezel
On June 8, 2022, U.S. Honda revealed details of its new HR-V SUV. Note that the launch of the new model began on June 7, 2022.
It has been revealed that the new ZR-V will be launched in Japan as the Japanese version of the new HR-V. What are the differences between the new HR-V and the popular Japanese model, the Vezel?Honda design but totally different! Comparing popular SUVs in pictures! What’s the difference?
This is Honda’s new SUV, the HR-V! It has been announced that it will be introduced in Japan as the new “”ZR-V
HR-V is known as the overseas name of the “”Vezel”” and is sold in each country and region as the first and second generation.
The Vezel (HR-V) was previously developed using the “”Fit”” platform and mechanism.
The current model sold in Japan, Europe, and Asia is similar, but the new HR-V, newly announced in North America, was developed based on the 11th-generation Civic and has evolved in its own unique way.
In Japan, Europe, and China, the new HR-V in North America will be marketed as the new ZR-V.
With the CR-V mid-size SUV to be discontinued in August 2022, Honda’s future SUV lineup in the Japanese market will consist of the Vezel and ZR-V. What are the differences between the two vehicles? What are the differences between the two vehicles? We will take a look based on the new HR-V (North American specifications/hereafter referred to as the new HR-V), the details of which were revealed earlier.
The exterior design of the new HR-V gives a powerful impression with a low horizontal beltline that extends from the extended hood to the bulging rear fenders, and the relatively long rear overhang (from the axle to the rear) gives the impression of cargo capacity from the exterior.
The front face is designed differently from previous Honda models, with air curtain intels on both sides of the front grille, which has a large opening that is low and protrudes forward in relation to the left and right headlights, creating a sense of wildness.
Air is also blown from the front bumper to the front wheel area to improve aerodynamic efficiency.
Body dimensions are 179.8 inches (4567 mm) long x 72.4 inches (1839 mm) wide x 63.4 inches (1610 mm) high – 63.8 inches (1620 mm).
The interior features the “”Simple & Something”” design introduced in the 11th generation Civic, which provides a spacious interior and improved visibility due to improved door mirror positions.
In addition, like the 11th generation Civic, the interior features a metal honeycomb mesh that extends across the dashboard, creating a visual boundary between the audio and information displays and climate control, as well as serving to conceal the air conditioning vents.
The cargo area also facilitates loading of large or heavy luggage. Additionally, the 6:4 split rear seatbacks fold down to reveal a flat floor.
Meanwhile, the exterior design of the Vezel features a “”sleek and long cabin”” that accentuates its coupe-like proportions, as well as a horizontal design with side lines running front to back. Body size (Japanese specifications) is 4330 mm (length) x 1790 mm (width) x 1580-1590 mm (height).
In addition to the sharp headlight design, the unique body-colored louvered grille combines fearlessness and power.
The rear design has a sophisticated look with the rear combination lights that shine in a single horizontal pattern.
In the interior, based on the HMI (human-machine interface), the new VWZEL has evolved from the orthodox previous model to a sophisticated design.
The meters and audio panel are positioned for easy visibility during driving. In addition, switches are placed in locations that are within natural reach without compromising the seating position, enabling smooth driving operation.
Other features include a “”tall mode (tip-up seats),”” which allows the rear seats to be raised to carry tall loads, and a 6:4 split-folding rear seat configuration.
Finally, Honda’s “”new SUV”” is launched! New “”HR-V”” with novel grille launched in the U.S.! What is the difference between the new ZR-V and the Vezel?
What’s the Dynamic Performance? What’s the Price? Differences between the HR-V/ZR-V and the Vezel
The powertrain of the new HR-V to be launched in North America is a 2-liter engine that produces 158hp of maximum output and 138lb.ft. of maximum torque, combined with a CVT.FWD and AWD drive systems are available, with AWD featuring “”real-time AWD with intelligent control,”” which is tuned to send more engine torque to the rear wheels for better traction control on slippery snow-covered roads.
In addition to the normal and eco drive modes, a new snow mode has been added to accommodate a variety of situations.
It has been announced that the new ZR-V in Japan will be available in gasoline and hybrid (e:HEV) versions.
The new Honda Vezel has been selling well in the Japanese market, but will the introduction of the new HR-V have any impact?
The Vezel, on the other hand, is available with either the e:HEV hybrid system, a 1.5-liter gasoline engine + 2 motors, or a 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The 2WD/4WD drive system was set.
The e:HEV version automatically switches to the optimal mode from three driving modes, EV mode, hybrid mode, and engine mode, according to the vehicle’s driving conditions.
In addition, the driver can select from three drive modes, “”NORMAL mode,”” “”SPORT mode,”” or “”ECON mode,”” depending on the acceleration desired, and the deceleration level can be adjusted from four levels using the deceleration selector.
Shuichi Ono, the head of development for the new HR-V (North American specifications) and the Vezel (Japanese specifications), explains the background behind the lineup of SUVs that are similar in size to the Japanese market: “”As we know, there is a growing demand for SUVs in Japan and overseas.
As you know, the SUV market, both in Japan and overseas, is a battle of the fiercest competitors.
Almost all major automakers have SUVs on the market, and all of them have positioned them as their main sales models. Even European sports car makers are now offering SUVs.
Honda currently has two SUVs, the CR-V and the Vezel, both of which are popular worldwide.
However, as the CR-V has gotten larger over the years, the size difference between the CR-V and the Vezel has widened.
Honda was concerned about the lack of an SUV between the two, and we also felt a strong need in the market, so as the person in charge of model development, we faced development with the thought, ‘We have to respond to this.
Honda’s new HR-V/ZR-V, which was unveiled in North America and China in the spring of 2022, was born as a vehicle with new value that sets itself apart from conventional SUVs, while being positioned just between the CR-V and Vezel in size.

The new HR-V (North American specifications) is priced from $23,650 to $28,950 (approximately 3,140,000 to 3,850,000 yen).
Although no detailed information has been released regarding the new ZR-V for the Japanese market, it is scheduled to go on sale by the end of 2022, and it is likely that interest in this stylish SUV, which differs from the Vezel, will increase in the future.”

New Harrier EV with near-future design unveiled for the first time
In a dazzling revelation at the Auto Expo 2023, hosted near Delhi, India from January 12 to 18, Tata Motors (Tata), a prominent automotive player in India, has taken the wraps off its latest innovation – the futuristic “Harrier EV”. While the name might draw parallels with Toyota’s Harrier, this electric SUV is a pioneering leap towards the future of sustainable transportation.
Tata’s existing “Harrier” model, a resounding success in the SUV segment, has been charming auto enthusiasts with its appealing design and performance. Developed in collaboration with Land Rover, this five-seater SUV, first introduced in 2018, has carved its own niche in the market. Sizing up at 4598 mm in length, 1894 mm in width, and 1706 mm in height, the Tata Harrier shares an uncanny resemblance in dimensions with Toyota’s Harrier, although the connection stops there.
Unlike its Japanese namesake, Tata’s Harrier embodies its own unique DNA. The exterior boasts a harmonious blend of dynamic curves and rounded contours, exuding an aura of modernity. Inside, the ambiance is one of simplicity and luxury, creating a welcoming space for both driver and passengers.
Powering the conventional Tata Harrier is a 2-liter diesel turbo engine, generating an impressive 170 horsepower. Enthusiasts can choose between a 6-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual, with the sole option of a 4WD drivetrain for ultimate control.
However, the true star of the show is the recently unveiled “Harrier EV”, Tata’s bold step into the world of electric mobility. This electrified iteration proudly carries the mantle of its predecessor, built upon the D8 platform from Land Rover and designed with insights from the Omega architecture, jointly developed in conjunction with Jaguar Land Rover.
Aesthetically, the “Harrier EV” stands apart, donning an elegant and dynamic exterior. The elongated headlights and rear lights stretch gracefully across the entire width of the vehicle, accentuating its modernity and uniqueness. The sleek, coupe-inspired silhouette lends an air of futurism, hinting at the progressive engineering that lies beneath.
Both the front and rear bumpers sport a rugged skid-plate design, echoing the vehicle’s adventurous spirit. To enhance its aerodynamic efficiency, the “Harrier EV” features turbine-blade wheels that don’t just look captivating but also aid in performance.
As for specific details such as pricing, Tata has maintained a level of secrecy, leaving enthusiasts and analysts intrigued. While the exact figures remain under wraps, whispers from overseas sources suggest a potential market entry in 2024. It’s a promising glimpse into Tata’s electrified tomorrow, and as the auto world anticipates this landmark launch, it’s clear that Tata’s “Harrier EV” is set to redefine the landscape of electric SUVs. Stay tuned as more information unfolds, promising to shape the future of sustainable mobility.
