Unveils Nissan Skyline NISMO in Limited 1,000 Units
ByPawaniTokyo, Japan – September 18, 2023
Nissan, one of the world’s leading automobile manufacturers, has ignited the excitement of car enthusiasts with the announcement of their latest creation, the “Skyline NISMO.” This remarkable vehicle, set to hit the market in early September 2023, is poised to take the automotive world by storm with its impressive blend of performance enhancements and a meticulously designed interior that screams sophistication.
A Legacy Reimagined
The Skyline has a rich heritage that dates back to 1957, known for its sporty engines and impeccable handling. This 13th-generation sedan/coupe, introduced in November 2013, remains the sole sedan model sold by Nissan in Japan. The “Skyline NISMO” is built upon the foundation of the high-performance 400R grade, undergoing numerous refinements. It pays tribute to its predecessors, especially the second-generation “Skyline GT,” aiming to be the ultimate grand touring (GT) car for those who demand speed, comfort, and peace of mind.
Under the hood, the “Skyline NISMO” boasts a 3-liter V6 twin-turbo engine that churns out an impressive 420 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. This power is seamlessly harnessed through a 7-speed automatic transmission, with a rear-wheel-drive (FR) system ensuring a thrilling driving experience. To enhance its performance further, it adopts several features from the iconic GT-R, including front window adhesive for improved rigidity, specially tuned suspension, stabilizer, electronic controls, and bespoke tires, wheels, and aero components.
Crafted Interior Elegance
While the exterior pays homage to its predecessors, it’s the interior of the “Skyline NISMO” that truly sets it apart as a grand tourer. Drawing inspiration from the 400R, the interior is drenched in a unified black tone, creating a serene and luxurious driving environment. Red accents are strategically placed around the driver’s seat, adding a touch of NISMO’s sporty character.
The special steering wheel features red markings and red stitching to highlight the center position, while the tachometer boasts a striking red ring. With a full-scale speedometer displaying 280 km/h, it ensures the driver is always in control. The center console follows suit with red stitching, and customers have the option to include carbon decorative panels for the door trims and center console, enhancing the sporty aesthetic while reducing weight.
The Recaro sports seats, also available with carbon panels, are semi-bucket seats. These seats showcase a striking combination of red and black, with perforations in key areas for added comfort. Nissan’s engineers have meticulously designed the seats to optimize body pressure distribution, ensuring a comfortable driving experience even during long journeys.
Moreover, the integration of carbon panels and the absence of trunk-through rear seats have resulted in a 20 kg reduction in the vehicle’s weight, enhancing its overall performance.
Yukio Kamiyama, the head of vehicle evaluation at NMC, shared insights into the seat selection process: “The seat angle has been verified to be the best. Although there is no height adjustment, we have comprehensively evaluated the seat to find the best position. The seat design is GT-R NISMO, and the seat back is a combination of that of ‘Note Aura NISMO.’ Manual adjustment was chosen to maintain vehicle weight.”
Limited Edition: An Ultimate Expression
For those who desire an even more exclusive experience, Nissan will release a limited edition of the “Skyline NISMO” in the summer of 2024. This version, aptly named “LIMITED,” will be produced in a limited run of just 100 units and will feature a high-precision engine hand-assembled by skilled craftsmen. Additionally, craftsmen will meticulously apply decals by hand, ensuring each car is a unique masterpiece.
The “LIMITED” edition will be priced at 7,884,000 yen (including consumption tax), offering an even more exclusive experience to the most discerning enthusiasts. It will include the same NISMO items that define the Skyline NISMO but with a level of craftsmanship and exclusivity that sets it apart from the rest.
With its outstanding performance enhancements and a meticulously designed interior, the Nissan “Skyline NISMO” is set to become a coveted addition to the world of grand touring. Only 1,000 units of this masterpiece will be available in early September 2023, with prices starting at 7,880,400 yen (including consumption tax). Coming within a few years? Plus, see the difference from the “”bZ Compact SUV”” in real life! (33 pictures)On November 17, 2022, the world premiere of the TOYOTA bZ Compact SUV Concept, a battery electric vehicle (BEV) concept car, was also shown in the United States.
Both have similar front faces, but what are the differences? This is cool! New C-HR prologue, a concept model of the upcoming C-HR, unveiled for the first time in the world by Toyota Europe Will this design be the trend for Toyota in the future? The C-HR made its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show in September 2014 as a concept model, the TOYOTA C-HR Concept. As a design study model for a new generation compact crossover, the C-HR Concept embodies a bold fusion of lightness and power in its styling.
In December 2016, the C-HR was unveiled as a mass production model. While conventional SUVs feature rough road performance and four-wheel drive systems, the C-HR was tested on various roads around the world, and its handling and shock absorbers were tuned for driving performance in line with the development concept of “”driving at my will. The design concept was “Sensual Speed – Cross,” expressing the SUV’s muscular suspension, speedy body, and adult sex appeal.
The front face was designed with the “Keen Look,” a Toyota design concept of the time, to create a sharp and powerful front mask with a wide and sturdy appearance. The body surface is based on a diamond motif, integrating a compact cabin and a thin body with a lifted feel. The front and rear wheel flares protrude from the body, creating an overwhelming sense of stance.Toyota explained the design of the C-HR at the time as follows.
Compared to other markets, many customers in the compact SUV market place more importance on interior and exterior design, so we paid thorough attention to the design of the C-HR.We have been particularly focused on the exterior design, aiming to realize the designer’s vision in its original form.Under the slogan “Sensual Speed-Cross,” we pursued an original style with a speedy cabin shape, sculpted surfaces, and a diamond motif that contrasts with the strongly narrowed body and large wheel flares.
In fact, after its announcement and launch, the car attracted a great deal of attention for its unconventional design.Furthermore, in Japan, it ranked first in the SUV genre for two consecutive years, 2017 (117,299 units) and 2018 (76,756 units), the year after its launch.Against this backdrop, in December 2022, eight years after the announcement of the C-HR Concept in 2014 and six years after its launch in 2016, Toyota Europe unveiled the world premiere of the C-HR Prologue, a design concept for the next C-HR.
The C-HR Prologue will be developed at Toyota’s European Design Development Center ED2 in the south of France. The character lines that make up the body surface express a subtle transition from sharp to fluid movement. This emphasizes the contrast between fluidity and sharpness. In addition, the “hammerhead” front face and U-shaped headlights, which are common to the new Prius, the new Crown Sport, and the new TOYOTA bZ Compact SUV Concept, have been adopted. It consists of a 3D architecture with various interlocking shapes and a bold lighting signature. In addition, the eye-catching front section is highlighted by a smaller front grille aperture and sharp headlights that accentuate the advanced look, giving the design a sharp, shark-like, piercing impression.
Furthermore, the body as a whole has been designed to be more sporty with large-diameter wheels and short overhangs. The aforementioned bZ Compact SUV Concept was also unveiled when Toyota Europe unveiled the C-HR Prologue. The bZ Compact SUV Concept was unveiled for the first time in the world on November 17, 2022 at the LA Motor Show by Toyota Motor Corporation of the United States.Toyota successively announced the SUV type “”bZ4X”” and the sedan type “”bZ3″” as part of the EV lineup “”TOYOTA bZ Series”” in 2022.The bZ Compact SUV, the third model in the TOYOTA bZ series, is being developed as a compact SUV that is easy to handle in daily life.
The design features a clean and dynamic exterior that is typical of BEVs, and an interior that proactively employs sustainable materials that have a low environmental impact in consideration of the future of the earth. As mentioned above, the front face features “”hammerhead”” and “”U-shaped”” headlights similar to those of the new Prius, the new Crown Sport, and the C-HR Prologue, but combined with horizontal lights like those on the Crown Crossover, they give a different impression. The four corners of the wheels are placed in the center of the headlights.
By placing the wheels at the four corners, we aimed for an aggressive appearance that makes the driver feel as if the vehicle is moving even when it is stationary. In addition, the short overhangs, sleek silhouette, and narrowed cabin design create a maneuverable and advanced exterior with excellent aerodynamic performance. The interior incorporates environmentally friendly design features such as seats made of recycled plant-derived materials, and a personal agent mounted inside the car connects the car to the driver and passengers through voice and lighting to provide a more comfortable and fulfilling in-car experience.
Thus, the “”hammerhead x U-shaped headlights”” face design has been increasingly adopted by Toyota in recent years. The C-HR Prologue and bZ Compact SUV have a very different impression by changing the horizontal single letter lights and grille design, but it is possible to recognize it as Toyota’s new common design at a glance. The design of the C-HR Prologue is similar to the one that was exhibited for the first time in the world at the “”Battery EV Presentation”” held on December 14, 2021, so it can be expected that the basic design of the next C-HR will remain the same.Furthermore, the bZ Compact SUV Concept is likely to look similar to the bZ series.
