New Prius is “”sporty”” even to the accelerator pedal!
Toyota has unveiled the new Prius, the fifth generation of the Prius, on November 16, 2022.
One of the features of the new Prius is its sporty design, but it also has a new accelerator pedal, which is very important for driving operation. What is the shape of the organ pedal of the new “”Prius””? Photos of the elaborate interior design “”tailored to a sports car””
New “”Prius”” with “”sporty finish”” down to the smallest details
In 1997, the Prius was the world’s first mass-produced hybrid car. Since then, it has been globally deployed as one of Toyota’s flagship models.
The fifth-generation model, fully remodeled under the concept of “”Hybrid Reborn,”” was developed to combine “”love-at-first-sight design”” with “”captivating driving performance.
In addition to a hybrid powertrain with a choice of a 2-liter or 1.8-liter engine, a PHEV grade is also available, with 0-100 km/h acceleration in 6.7 seconds and a maximum system output of 223 hp. The model actively uses words such as “”acceleration,”” and meets the needs of those seeking a good driving experience.
The exterior retains the “”mono-form silhouette”” that is the Prius’ identity, but has sporty proportions with a lower center of gravity, large 19-inch tires, and a stylish hammerhead motif front face design.
The interior also has a cockpit that makes it easy to concentrate on driving and enjoy the driving experience. The overall impression of both the interior and exterior is quite sporty, with one-pointed decorations incorporated in the instrument panel and seat stitching.
A closer look at the driver’s seat area reveals that the shape of the accelerator pedal has actually changed compared to the previous generation models.
The new Prius uses what is known as an “”organ pedal.
Unlike the normal accelerator pedal, which is suspended from above, the organ pedal “”grows”” upward from the floor and falls backward when the driver steps on it.
Compared to the suspended pedal, the organ pedal is said to have the advantage that the movement of the pedal matches the movement of the foot that steps on the pedal, making driving for a long time less tiring, and the heel does not slide easily, making it easier to control the accelerator pedal.
The organ pedal tends to be used in relatively high-priced Toyota models such as the Crown and Century, and in sports cars such as the Supra and Nissan Fairlady Z. Mazda uses the organ pedal in all its models, including the Mazda2 compact car.
The new organ pedal may allow the driver to better experience the “”captivating”” driving performance of the Prius, including the adoption of the new-generation TNGA platform and improved suspension, as well as the powertrain with improved acceleration performance and response.

New CR-V Evolves into a Sporty, Cleaner Design
On May 24, 2022 (local time), Honda’s U.S. subsidiary unveiled for the first time in the world part of the exterior design of the new sixth-generation CR-V, which is scheduled for official unveiling this summer.
How has it evolved from the current 5th generation CR-V? We compared the new and old CR-Vs.“”New image!”” Comparing old and new Honda CR-V photos
(Left) Honda CR-V (5th generation, current model) / (Right) New CR-V (6th generation, 2023 model) [both North American specifications].
These images show the front of the new CR-V, centering on the headlights, and the rear, centering on the tail lamps.
The body side shape, front and rear overall design, and interior and instrument panel were not disclosed.
With such limited information, let’s compare the new and old CR-Vs.
First of all, the more distinctive feature of the front is the new model’s larger hexagonal grille.
The inside of the opening is also decorated with a honeycomb structure (hexagonal beehive structure).
In addition, the grille is black without chrome decorations in the disclosed specifications, which is a feature that strengthens the powerful and tough impression typical of SUVs.
The current CR-V also has a hexagonal grille, but the upper part is covered by a continuous bar shape from the headlights, dividing the grille into two sections. The addition of chrome decorations gives the grille a rather cumbersome appearance.
Comparing the new and old CR-Vs again, the new model has a cleaner overall image.

How about the back view?
The common feature of both the new and old models is the L-shaped rear combination lamps that run horizontally and vertically.
This is derived from the fact that since the first-generation CR-V introduced in 1995, successive generations of CR-Vs have used vertical rear combination lamps.
Furthermore, from the current model (5th generation), which was introduced in 2016 (Japanese version will be introduced in 2018), the vertical shape was arranged in an L-shape while retaining the vertical shape, and it is evident that the new 6th generation CR-V has also inherited it.
Also, similarly to the front, the specifications of the new CR-V unveiled this time are almost completely devoid of the chrome decorations in the center and bumper areas that are present on the current model, giving it a sportier look.
Comparing the tailgate, the current model looks a little high-backed due to the peak above the license plate number, while the new model’s center of gravity is lowered by lowering the apex of the shape, giving it a clean and uncluttered appearance.
According to Honda’s U.S. subsidiary, the new CR-V will be officially unveiled in North America in the summer of 2022.
We can’t wait to see the overall design of the new CR-V.”

New Honda ZR-V larger than the Vezel is now available
ByPawaniWill the new “”ZR-V”” in the premium line be accepted by Honda fans? Curious to see how it differs from the “”Vezel””?New “”ZR-V”” larger than the “”Vezel”” is now availableHonda’s new SUV, the ZR-V, will be released in April 2023 as a middle-class SUV, positioned between the Vezel and CR-V.A real luxury car! Complete with a cargo area for overnight stays! Photos of the interior and exterior of the new ZR-V .The new design concept, which is different from the previous lineage, is also a topic of discussion, and is attracting attention as a new generation of Honda SUVs.
The ZR-V is a completely new breed, but will this style be accepted by current Honda SUV owners? The new Honda ZR-V has a premium feel like a European carMr. U (a man in his 30s), who drives a first-generation Vezel, chose an SUV mainly for city driving. He appreciates the new design of the new ZR-V.He says the glamorous body and front fascia, which is said to resemble European brand SUVs, are attractive. I personally like it because it looks more like a sport wagon or crossover than an SUV.
I personally like the impression that it is more like a sports wagon or crossover than an SUV. Especially the high-end grade “”Z””, which even the moldings are the same color as the body, seems to have a more luxurious feel. When I actually drive an SUV, the center of gravity is surprisingly high, and I feel a momentary fluttering sensation when taking a curve on the highway, so I think the new ZR-V, with its low overall height, will save me from having a frightening experience. While SUVs don’t have to worry about slight bumps in the road thanks to their high minimum ground clearance, they inevitably make you aware of their high center of gravity on winding roads and curves.
In this respect, the new ZR-V has a sporty feel coupled with a low overall height that could be considered a coupe SUV.I think it will be well accepted by existing Honda fans. The other thing to consider is the price: Do you think the price, which ranges from 2,949,100 yen to 4,119,500 yen for a vehicle with a rating lower than the CR-V, is high or appropriate? If my budget allows, I would be willing to switch to a new car.
Although the narrowed rear area is stylish, the lack of height in the luggage space is a bit of a concern. However, he says that this is not a big problem since he only uses the car a few times a year when it is fully loaded with luggage.I’d like to drive one when I can actually test drive one,”” he said. I know the hybrid has good acceleration, but I’m hoping it will be as sporty as I imagined.(Mr. U, owner of the first generation Vezel)
Mr. T, a man in his 40s who has been driving the Element, which attracted attention for its unique fusion of a minivan and an SUV, for more than 10 years with great care, is feeling puzzled by the new front face.It looks like it came out of nowhere,”” he said. The overall form is well put together, but I have the impression that it has lost some of its SUV-like qualities, but I can say that it is a “”typical Honda car”” with a strong urban image.
However, design evolves with the times. However, he is more concerned about whether SUVs can be used by families, as they are at a disadvantage compared to minivans in terms of luggage space and so on. They are also concerned about how the SUV will be separated from the compact Vezel, which is more suited to Japan’s road conditions.
The new ZR-V, even though it is an SUV, has a slightly lower overall height, which seems to be in line with the latest coupe style trend,”” he said. The new ZR-V is based on the Civic and is said to be equipped with a newer hybrid than the Vezel, so I’m curious to see which has better driving performance. Will the new “”ZR-V,”” which goes the premium route, be accepted by Honda fans? I’m curious to see how it differs from the “”Vezel””!
What kind of car is the new ZR-V?The new ZR-V is an SUV that uses the platform of the current 11th generation Civic. The grade lineup is simple: the standard “”X”” and the luxurious “”Z””. Each has a choice of 2WD (FF) and 4WD.The powertrains are the 2-liter hybrid “”e:HEV”” and the 1.5-liter VTEC turbo engine.
Honda’s new ZR-VThe body size is 4570 mm (overall length) x 1840 mm (overall width) x 1620 mm (overall height), with a wheelbase of 2655 mm and a minimum ground clearance of 190 mm, making it a slightly larger version of the Vezel and just the right size for urban use.For a minimum ground clearance of 190mm, the overall height is 1620mm, which is low for an SUV. The low hip point of both the front and rear seats is said to have enabled the securing of headroom and the adoption of a narrower design around the rear.
The exterior, which determines the impression of the car, has a completely new design this time, offering a glimpse into the direction of the new generation of Honda cars. The high-end “”Z”” grade has resin moldings including wheel arches in the same color as the body, giving it a more urban look. It seems that the company is aiming for a premium route with a coupe-style crossover SUV while ensuring ease of use in daily life.
Incidentally, the interior is also equipped with new features typical of new-generation hybrids, such as the latest digital meters and the Honda Digital Key, which allows a smartphone to replace the key.The fuel tank capacity of 57 liters is larger than the new Step Wagon’s 52 liters, so a hybrid model with WLT mode fuel economy of 22.1 km/L can run more than 1,000 km without refueling, which is a significant advantage for a long continuous driving range.
28 Year Old Toyota Hiace Sold in the U.S.
An unexpected trend has surfaced in the automotive market – vintage domestic vans, once considered mere utilitarian workhorses, are now gaining international attention and fetching astonishing prices. A prominent contributor to this phenomenon is Cars and Bids, a distinguished auctioneer that specializes in hosting auctions for cars in both the United States and Canada via its eponymous online auction platform.
Breaking the Mold: A 28-year-old Toyota Hiace, a van primarily known for its versatility and reliability, recently achieved remarkable acclaim. In a sale that transpired on October 29, 2022, this particular Toyota Hiace, modelled as a “Hiace Wagon Super Custom Limited (4WD)” from the fourth generation, caught the eyes of bidders and enthusiasts alike. The final gavel struck at a stunning $19,250, an impressive leap from its initial price of $15,670. For reference, that’s roughly equivalent to about 2.21 million Japanese yen – almost twice the price that a similar Hiace commands in the Japanese market.
Unveiling the Legacy: The Toyota Hiace lineage, tracing its roots back to its inception in 1967 as a commercial van, has weathered decades to evolve into the present. The specimen in question was a model from the fourth generation, colloquially known as the “100 series.” Introduced in 1989, this iteration brought a touch of luxury to the scene, boasting features like three-part sunroofs, swiveling second-row seats with plush moquette upholstery, foldable third-row seats, and even the innovative “Joyful Talk” technology, enabling seamless communication between front and rear occupants.
Exquisite Mechanics: Beneath its well-preserved exterior resides a 3.0-liter inline 4-cylinder diesel turbo engine, churning out a robust 130 horsepower and 213 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant, coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission, propels all four wheels, providing an assured driving experience. Additional enhancements include a rare electric water heater and practical add-ons like 15-inch wheels, a trailer hitch, and a roof rack.
Impeccable Condition: The Hiace on auction flaunted a remarkably low mileage of 58,300 km, a testament to its careful ownership and maintenance. The exterior and interior, devoid of visible aging signs, exuded an aura of timelessness. Its domicile was registered as Clean, Wisconsin, USA, where it awaited its new steward.
Demand for Rarity: This instance of the Hiace fetching such an exalted price is no isolated incident. Other vintage Japanese vans, like the Nissan “Homie,” have also secured substantial prices at overseas auctions. The intriguing upshot of these transactions points towards an emergent demand for classic Japanese vans within the North American market.
The reverberations of the Toyota Hiace sale resonate across the automotive realm, sparking discussions about the allure of vintage vans and their newfound value on a global stage. As these iconic vehicles continue to transcend their utilitarian origins, one thing remains clear – the appeal of classic Japanese vans is undeniable and growing.
