“The Ultimate “”Ole’ Specs”” Personalization Program for Toyota’s GR Yaris “”Morizo Selection”” Available at KINTO
Your car evolves to your liking! This is a genuine custom-made service!
Toyota’s management philosophy is “”mass production of happiness,”” but the company is also taking on the challenge of “”personalized happiness.
One such service is the “”GR Yaris ‘Morizo Selection’,”” which is sold exclusively by KINTO.

Personalization Program of Toyota’s GR Yaris “”Morizo Selection”” in action!
The vehicle is decorated throughout with the coordinated accents of the private team “”ROOKIE Racing”” owned by Morizo.
Specifically, the exterior features a window shield with Morizou’s signature, exclusive wheel ornaments, and special suspension paint, while the interior has special equipment such as exclusive sports seats, a special steering wheel, and special door switch bases.
This alone may sound like a “”typical special edition,”” but the essence of this model lies in what you cannot see. In a word, it is “”a car that evolves along with people.
The first of these is “”updates. This is a service that updates the basic performance of the car by reflecting software in line with technological innovations, and the first menu item (GR YARIS PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE 1.0) has been announced.
Specifically, the first menu (GR YARIS PERFORMANCE SOFTWARE 1.0) includes engine (high response acceleration response), steering (heavier steering force), and 4-wheel drive distribution (distribution ratio in track mode changed from 50:50 to 55:45).
The other is “”personalization”” (GR YARIS PERSONALIZE SOFTWARE1.0), which is introduced here.
The GR Yaris is a model that strongly reflects the concept of “”creating a better car with motor sports as its starting point. Even after its official launch, we have continued to train it by utilizing various motorsports fields, including the Super Taikyu series and the All Japan Rally Championship.
In the world of motorsports, the same car is set up according to the track/weather conditions, driver preferences, and other factors.
Personalization is a service inspired by this setup process. In other words, it can be adjusted to “”my specifications”” according to the driving characteristics and preferences of each individual owner.
All numbered models are set up with many people in mind. This is true even for the GR Yaris.
However, since the driving habits and preferences of users vary widely, there are naturally requests for “”a little more 00″”.
Until now, we have been able to just say, “”It’s a mass-produced car, so ……,”” but this time it is different. This is a big challenge for Toyota, a company that specializes in mass production, to focus on the “”individual.
The GR Yaris was born out of motorsports, and we have evolved it using motorsports methods.
Akio Toyoda, aka Morizo, the president of Toyota Motor Corporation, who has experienced firsthand how cars evolve from moment to moment and how a car can change dramatically depending on its setup in the world of motorsports, in which he also competes, came up with the idea to “”allow ordinary users to experience the evolution of a car that is close to the driver. This program was born out of the idea that he wanted ordinary users to be able to experience the evolution of driver-friendly products.
Prior to the launch of this service, the author (Shinya Yamamoto) experienced this personalized program. Three courses (turning and braking, pylon slalom, and steady circle turning) are used in the “”Mobilita”” at Fuji Speedway.
The personalization menu is briefly explained as follows.
1. Driving with the vehicle in the “”tulsi”” condition.
2 Comparison of collected driving data with professional driver’s data
3. Interview the driver about his/her impressions
4. Engine control/EPS control/AWD control are adjusted based on the driving data and interviews.
5 Run the same course again
6 Comparison/verification of feeling changes due to changes and driving data
Before the author runs the car, the driving data is collected from a professional driver who will serve as a reference.
This time it is Masahiro Sasaki, who is supervising this program. I am a little nervous when I think that my driving will be compared with a professional driver.
The ultimate “”I-am-a-driver”” personalization program for Toyota’s GR Yaris “”Morizo Selection”” available at KINTO.

No way, Mr. “”Morizo”” himself is here…!
The author’s driving data collection was followed by a test for full-scale operation, so the development team, including Mr. Naohiko Saito, the head of development for the GR Yaris, were all present.
Also making a surprise appearance was President Akio Toyoda, who happened to be at Fuji Speedway for another test.
Mr. Morizo himself made a surprise appearance.
He had heard that we were doing a personalized interview and came to observe the event, but suddenly he was able to show off his driving skills in front of the president.
He was under pressure from Sasaki, who said, “”I usually say a lot of things in my articles, you know (laughs).
(Laughs)”” However, once the race got underway, he drove through the three stages with his usual calm and collected driving style.
When I returned, I was relieved to hear President Toyoda say, “”You were driving well! But we were immediately interviewed by Toyota engineers about the vehicle.
The first was that it was harder to turn the car around than I thought it would be, and the second was that it was difficult to control the gas pedal.
Next, the driving data taken from the car was analyzed by overlapping with Sasaki’s driving data. While looking at the data with the engineers, we were given a lecture, and for some reason, President Toyoda was standing beside us (laughs).
(Laughter.) President Toyoda was the one who initiated the idea, but he was curious because this was the first time he had seen this service in action.
The engineer commented, “”Basically, there are no major discrepancies with Sasaki, but what Shinya said at the hearing is also in the data.
Specifically, the first is that the cornering speed is decreasing due to gradual steering lag in the pylon slalom. The second is that the bottom speed is too low in pylon slalom and steady circle turns (i.e., acceleration/deceleration control is not good enough).
Based on the interviews and data analysis, the engineer made these suggestions.
The engineer suggested, “”If you adjust the EPS control to be lighter and the engine response to be gentler, it will be even easier to drive.
The specifications were changed on the spot. The control is changed by connecting a special device to the diagnostic monitoring connector located under the steering column, and the work is completed in 10 to 20 minutes.
Of course, the hardware has not been modified in any way, so of course nothing looks different. Then, the car is driven on the same course again.
This is the ultimate “”I-owe-me”” specification.
I never thought it would change so much…!
I actually ran the car and my impression is, “”It’s definitely easier to ride than the first time!!!”” It is.
Specifically, the steering wheel gives the impression of being able to turn with minimal steering angle, and the throttle feels more faithful to the operation, resulting in a greater sense of oneness with the car.
I would love to experience this in my own “”GR Yaris””…!
The data also proved this. In the pylon slalom, line taking was more precise, bottom speed was increased, and unnecessary acceleration/deceleration was suppressed ……, resulting in a smoother driving style, and as a result, the passing time was reduced.
Furthermore, steady circle turns can now be driven in a clean line with no unnecessary behavior, and driving using the tires at the very limit of their grip has become much easier.
In other words, by changing the setup to best suit the author, the car can now be driven “”faster, safer, and easier”” than it was in its thrush state.
Of course, some may argue that the driver should adjust the car to fit its characteristics, but the author believes that a partner is “”a relationship where trust can be built naturally,”” and this is true not only between people, but also between cars and people.
When I first heard about personalization, I thought, “”It’s called custom-made, but there are a few ‘specific specifications’ that are prepared, and I’m just going to apply them to the car. But this is truly custom-made.
Of course, there are some parts that can be solved by replacing aftermarket parts, but in terms of “”eliminating the parts that bother you without changing the good parts of the stock car,”” this is a one-of-a-kind existence and a menu that truly deserves the name “”tuning”” (=adjustment).
It is truly deserving of the name “”tuning (=adjustment).”” We are tempted to call it “”Super Normal,”” which is more than just normal.
This service is currently available only for the GR Yaris “”Morizo Selection,”” but there are plans to expand the service to the regular GR Yaris (RZ/RC), Prius PHV GR Sport, and other models in the future.
Personally, I think that the “”First Edition”” users who purchased the GR Yaris without even seeing it, let alone test-driving it, should be the first to be offered this service.
