Wild and Tough! The “SUV” Prius!
　The new Toyota Prius made its world premiere on November 16, 2022.
　
　The fifth-generation Prius has been reborn with a sporty look, and Indian designer SRK Designs has created a rendering (image CG) of the “”Toyota Prius Hybrid Adventure Edition,”” an SUV version of the new Prius, and posted it on social networking sites. The designers have posted their renderings on social networking sites.

　The Prius was introduced to the world in 1997 with the tagline, “”Just in time for the 21st century.”” the Prius was born in 1997 as the world’s first mass-produced hybrid car. Four generations of Prius have been sold to date, with a cumulative global sales volume of approximately 5.05 million units.

　In 2022, 25 years after its birth, the fifth generation of the new Prius will be launched. In addition to its strong points of high environmental performance, the new Prius has been developed to combine “”a design that makes you fall in love at first sight”” and “”a driving experience that makes you fall in love with it.

　The body size is 4600 mm (overall length) x 1780 mm (overall width) x 1430 mm (overall height), and the wheelbase is 2750 mm, slightly larger than the previous generation model.

　The exterior inherits the iconic “”mono-form silhouette”” of the Prius, but has evolved to sportier and more stylish proportions thanks to a lower center of gravity based on the second-generation TNGA platform and the adoption of large 19-inch tires.

　Three types of powertrains are available: a 1.8-liter engine, a 2.0-liter engine plus hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), or a 2.0-liter engine plus plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).

　The HEV and PHEV models are scheduled to go on sale this winter and spring 2023, respectively.

　The Adventure Edition is a lifted version of the new Prius with a much tougher image.

The body color is a green camouflage pattern. Resin parts are placed on the lower part of the body, as is typical of SUVs, and the grille under the bumper is fitted with extruded parts.

　The hood and roof have been changed to black for a tighter look.

　In addition, a roof box has been installed, and thick all-terrain tires have been mounted on small-diameter wheels to give the vehicle a tougher look that is suitable for outdoor activities.

　SRK Designs creates renderings of all kinds of “what if” vehicles that do not yet exist in reality, such as a station wagon version of the Toyota Avalon TRD and a Dubai Police version of the EQG, and posts them on their social networking sites.

　The renderings created by SRK Designs are, of course, unauthorized and delusional designs, but there are real-life examples of Toyota Prius customized to “SUV specifications” such as a lift-up, and the possibility of such a car one day being realized cannot be completely ruled out. We cannot completely deny the possibility that such a vehicle may someday become a reality.
